Swimming with Sharks!! Oahu, Hawaii

As we were sitting on our balcony watching sea turtles swim one morning, we decided that it would be awesome to swim with sharks! Oahu's north shore is a great place to see them so we called and made a reservation with North Shore Shark Adventures. The only time available was 6:00am which meant that we needed to leave our hotel by 4:30 to get to the other side of the island but we decided to go for it! This was our view for the ride out! We went 3 miles offshore and then went into the water inside this cage... Amber and I are ready to be shark bait...ooh ha ha Here's our view of the coast from our diving site! We were able to see a beautiful sunrise on the ride out!  Our snorkeling gear was awesome! Climbing into the cage!! Once we got in the cage, they unhooked the cage from the boat and let it drift out about 20 yards so that we could see the sharks from all directions! We saw about 5 Galapagos sharks and 1 reef sh...

Kaena Point, Oahu, Hawaii

The second island in Hawaii we visited was Oahu. We had a little flight trouble getting to the island (3 hour delay for a 1 hour flight) but we made it, drove to the condo and went to bed!! The next morning, we were lazy and just hung around the hotel. We decided to venture out in the afternoon and our first stop was place on the coast right off the road where our condo manager said we could see sea turtles!! We were a little late to see all of them, but a couple of guys were swimming around! So cute! Then, we went to hike out to Kaena Point. It's the westernmost point on Oahu and a great stretch of native coast land! The hike was about 3 miles and pretty flat for the most part. There were great views of the island!! There were a few spots that were a little difficult to cross but we made it! I was a little scared at this view.... We were looking forward to seeing these seals but we didn't see any.  We did see beautiful views t...

Hawaii, Maui, Road to Hana

I am planning to blog about my recent trip to Hawaii in a series of posts. There was so much to see and do that I do not think one post would do justice so I'm starting at the beginning! I went to Hawaii with a friend and co-teacher from school, her sister, her sister's friend and her sister's friend's mom. Confused yet? From now on they will be Amber, Kimberly, Val and Ms. Anne. We flew into Maui pretty late the first night so we stayed in a hotel near the airport. Amber left her wallet at home so she didn't travel with us, found the next set of flights to Hawaii and met back up with us at noon the next day. This was wonderful because we were all so tired and had a lazy morning before picking Amber up. Palm trees were everywhere and they were beautiful! The weather was awesome perfect for the entire week that I was there!! It was so cool to see mountains and beach so close together! It was pretty windy by the water so I had to hold onto my hat! This ...
